MASCARA: WHEN TO SAY GOODBYE!

We all know that mascara can be a bit pricey, especially if you get it from a top of the line make-up department. Additionally, mascara can last a matter of months, even if we use it on a daily basis! However, there is some danger associated with using the same mascara for a long period of time. Generally, the rule of thumb for any opened bottle of mascara is to throw it out after three months. Bacteria can build up on the mascara brush, which can cause your eyes to become itchy and irritated. Additionally, you can also get eye infections from using old mascara!

It is important to remember that you should never share mascara! If someone else borrows your brush to coat their lashes, you may want to consider “gifting” it to them and buying yourself a new bottle. Germs from the eyes are easily transferred, and it may not be worth the risk when your health is involved.

The growth of bacteria isn’t the only problem that comes along with using an old bottle of mascara. Old mascara can become dried out, which will make it look clumpy when applied to your lashes. Because mascara is a relatively subtle makeup addition (especially when we already have eyeliner on) many of us don’t even realize that our mascara has dried out. Often times, you will be “applying” mascara only to realize after about a week that you have simply been brushing your eyelashes with a dried out mascara brush!

APPLY SOFT BLUSH TO COMPLETE YOUR LOOK, SUMMER-FALL 2010 MAKEUP TIPS

Have you ever applied your cover up and foundation make-ups only to find that you are still looking slightly washed out? Adding a soft blush into your daily make-up routine can help to give you a soft, natural splash of color. Blush will make you look healthier and more vibrant, and it may be just the thing missing from your daily make-up regiment.

Applying a soft blush is very simply, and only takes a matter of seconds. Most women prefer to apply their blush after they have applied all of their other make-up. All you have to do is find the right color for you, and simply brush your blush powder onto your cheekbones. Most women have different ways of applying this, but as a general rule, you can remember to start and the top of your cheekbones, and brush down toward your jaw line (or vice versa).

When applying blush, be sure to use a full-rounded brush, as it can deliver the powder evenly across your face. It is important to keep your brush clean and to always wash your face before applying make-up.

Be sure that your blush is properly blended in with the rest of your makeup. You won’t want to risk the appearance of streaks on the side of your face. Additionally, if you are looking for the right color of blush, you should consider a color which matches closely to the redness of your facial skin after exercising. This is generally a good rule of thumb for most people.
