Avril Showers Bring May Flowers: Avril Lavigne Makeup 2010, 2011 Trends

If you’ve ever seen young punk artist Avril Lavigne, then you may have wondered how exactly to achieve some of her looks. The one that was chosen for this tutorial is more wearable then most.

You will need: black mascara, black eyeshadow, nude pink eyeshadow, orangey-pink shine lipstick, and black eyeliner.

First, you need to feel out where you’re going to put your makeup. This may seem a bit odd, but it’s much easier than it seems. In this style, she is wearing eyeshadow that is shaped as it does outside of her eyes. The shape can be felt out using your eye socket. Start at your crease, and then slowly move outward with your finger. Feel that little hollow on the outer corner of your eye? This is where you want your eyeshadow to extend out to. Make sure to try and keep it in that shape.

Apply your black eyeshadow on your lid, up to your crease. Then take it at the corner of your eye and begin to extend it. Be really careful to keep it within the little hollow mentioned before. Then bring it back to your eye at the bottom, sloping in to the lash line. Go across the lash line thinly to give a smoky effect. Then apply the nude pink from the crease upwards. Make sure to gently blend the two, but to keep the black in the crease.

Take your eyeliner and line both your top lid’s lash line, thinly, and your bottom waterline. You can tightline (line the top waterline) if you wish.

Use your mascara next. Top and bottom lashes.

For your lipstick, use an orange-pink color. Think like a peach with a grapefruit’s insides type of tint. This look doesn’t use lip gloss. The lip color needs to have a lot of shine.

After that, voila! You can use a warm, tannish-pink blush to add a bit of warmth to this look if you wish. After that, you’re done!
