APPLYING STAGE MAKEUP

APPLYING STAGE MAKEUP

Stage makeup can be difficult when applied. Almost all of the usual makeup worn on everyday life is magnified in order for it to work on stage. Even though you think that you have applied too much makeup, you may still look pale when faced with the stage lights.

When applying stage makeup, always start with the foundation. It should be extremely thick applied to both the face and neck. Men and people with short hair should also have their backs applied with foundation. When it is fairly thick, cheek color is next. For the ladies, make sure that it is dark enough to look like you are indeed wearing makeup. It should give you a rosy cheek look on stage. The men are only given a paler cheek color just enough to not make them look pale.

The most difficult part is the eye portion. Eye makeup is first done with a white highlighter applied to the brow bone and in the areas under your eyes. Blend it well so no white lines are visible yet the areas are highlighted. A tone darker than your natural skin tone should be applied above your eyelids and a much darker shade for the lower lid.

The lipstick for men and women should only be a little darker than the natural lip color. Loose powder is applied last to keep the makeup in place. Make sure that you apply this carefully because it can ruin the total makeup if there are lumps in your powder container.
